What would the world look like with a chain of Amazon movie theatres? AMC Theatres are receiving a wallopping by the pandemic and has amassed over 5 billion US in debt. With COVID-19 restrictions in place in many cities where locations exist, there is little that they can currently do to bring in revenue. While the company has been working overtime to secure funding, if things don’t change, bankruptcy may just be a matter of time. That’s why Amazon coming to the rescue might not be so crazy. They are already a digital distributor and producer of content, and brick and mortar acquisitions are not new to them, as in the case of Whole Foods and their prototype stores in Seattle. What would this new AMC look like? And how would they affect the film industry? Enrique Dans from Forbes helps us understand what’s at stake.
Few people want to be at a hospital these days. For the heroes that need to be on the front lines, Robots are being asked to come to the aid of our healthcare workers. This allows them to focus on patient care. But what are we asking these robots to do? How about life or death decisions about killing things? Things like bacteria and viruses could be scanned for and eradicated, reducing exposure to doctors, nurses, patients and visitors too. Brian Jackson from Info-Tech Research Group has indeed done the research, allowing him to explain this scenario and many more.
