On this week’s APP SHOW video podcast, we explore great topics to help you deal with and adapt to the current reality. We’re talking with a COVID-19 survivor, tech analyst, and virtual reality expert, to find out how he’s using VR to keep fit and sane during this interesting time. We’re also talking to a legal expert about the issues surrounding Google and Apple’s new contact tracing technology that is coming soon to a smartphone near you. All this and whole lore more great tech to talk on our April 19, 2020, edition of the APP SHOW video podcast.
Kicking things off, Anshel Sag, an analyst for Moor Strategies & Insights, is a survivor of the COVID-19 pandemic and an expert in the field of virtual reality. He’s been using the technology to rehabilitate from his ordeal, and he’s sharing everything he knows about how to get started. We cover several different types of headsets and equipment, along with how to adopt virtual reality into your daily routines.
To help fight the pandemic, Google and Apple’s new contact tracing technology is coming to a smartphone near you. Literally. By using the Bluetooth radios in your phone, the technology will allow smartphones to track one another anonymously. This information can then help in identifying whether you’ve been exposed to infectious diseases, allowing apps to notify you if you require medical attention. While this all sounds fine and dandy, there are some real legal and privacy issues raised from its use. We speak to Canadian professor of law, Dr. Michael Geist, about what those issues are and how these two tech giants will reconcile them.
