The eternal battle between Samsung and Apple rages on in the wireless Bluetooth earbud-style headphone space. While Apple has a bit of a lead with the AirPods, Samsung has been catching up quick. Their latest Galaxy Buds Live represents a great cross-platform alternative for both iOS and Android users.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live looks like a couple of beans. If only we could throw them into the ground and sprout a giant beanstalk. A plant full of these wireless earbuds would truly be magical. But back to the real world, you get a great low-profile alternative to the ‘AirPods-Look’ of stems dangling from your ears. While the AirPods Pro does have a bit more isolation with a mechanical connection due to the soft ear tips, the Galaxy Buds Live are close, without intruding into the ear canal. Active noise cancellation is also onboard like the AirPods Pro and both have a charging case.
The sound quality on the Galaxy Buds Live is excellent for both calls and audio, but the AirPods Pro does have the advantage of spatial audio in the interim. Because Apple did offer that as a software update, Samsung may do the same for the Galaxy Buds Live in a future update.
The most important advantage the Galaxy Buds Live has over the AirPods Pro is the aforementioned cross-platform compatibility. The AirPods Pro, for the most part, works best with iOS devices. However, the Galaxy Buds Live has fully functional apps for Android and iOS users, showing Apple users an alternative that also gives great sound.
