Getting Fitter with the Latest Health Gadgets

On Global News at Noon this week, Mike met up with Sonia Sunger to talk tech. This week, we’re checking out the latest health gadgets. Featured on the show are two of FitBit’s latest health trackers, the Versa 2 and the Inspire HR. He’s also got a personal shiatsu massager to show off from a company called Naipo.

The FitBit InspireHR is one of the company’s most affordable fitness companions with heart rate measurement. The built-in heart rate function allows it to more accurately log your daily activity, and more precisely track your calories. The best feature is the sleep quality measurement function. By dissecting the different stages of your sleep, it will assign a score, and present you with benchmarks related to those different stages. It’s swim-proof, has a 5-day battery life, and retails for $129 CAD.

The flagship FitBit Versa 2 was announced recently and includes many of the same features from the InspireHR and adds a larger high-quality display with always-on capability. FitBit Pay contactless payment is also available, along with access to the FitBit app store. The flagship features of the Versa 2 is Amazon Alexa integration. After connecting your Versa 2 to your smartphone via Bluetooth, you can start talking to Alexa via the built-in microphone. The results are returned via text to the Versa 2’s screen. The Versa 2 also adds more support for controlling music apps including Spotify and Deezer. It has a 6-day battery life (less if you use the always-on feature) and retails for $249 CAD.

Finally, we have the Naipo Neck and Shoulder Massager. It features a deep kneading shiatsu massager and a built-in advanced heat function that transfers warmth to improve the blood circulation. Three intensity modes are available for a deep and comfortable massage experience. It plugs into a regular outlet and can easily be used in the office, your home, and even your vehicle with the included car adapter. Although you might not want to be driving while using it. The Naipo Neck and Shoulder massager is available for around $70 on Amazon and features a 24-month warranty.
