Last year, HP moved to secure the HyperX gaming brand from Kingston Technology. At CES 2022, the new HyperX is improving the line-up and refining some already excellent products. One of the most significant improvements is the ginormous battery they placed inside the HyperX™Cloud Alpha Wireless gaming headset. With up to 300 hours of battery life, you can afford to be a little bit lazy.
HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset takes a very iconic over-the-ear design and improves its wireless technology through enhanced battery capacity and efficiency. The wireless still runs at 2.4 GHz and gives a range of up to 20 metres. As mentioned, the battery life is 300 hrs between charges, which is a very long time for its built-in lithium polymer battery. But if for some reason, you can deplete the entire life of the battery, it can be charged up in about 4.5 hrs via USB.
The Cloud Alpha provides immersive audio with support of DTS®Headphone: X®. A new-and-improved, custom Dual Chamber ear cup with custom HyperX 50mm Drivers provides additional weight savings and a slimmer design. The signature HyperX soft, pliable leatherette and custom plush memory foam ear cups are still there, connected to a durable aluminum frame that we are surprised more companies do not adopt. Metal is always better than plastic when it comes to longevity and durability.
The microphone is detachable and features a 6mm Electret noise-cancelling condenser mic with an LED status indicator. Onboard audio controls are positioned at the ear cup for easy access.
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset is coming in February 2022 with a retail price of $199.99 US. Canadian availability and pricing should follow soon.
