It appears as if WhatsApp is going to get a face lift. There is a new beta version of WhatsApp for iOS that contains some subtle changes to the colours used in dark mode. The new beta version has been spotted addressing the functionality of keeping the messages green whether in dark or light mode. When sending a message it appears in light green and when you receive one it appears in a shade of white.
WhatsApp won’t be changing the colours but the shades will be altered to properly reflect both light and dark modes of the app. My past experience with this app has been that it’s straight forward, to the point of lacking versatility. It appears the changes are being made to help readability in a variety fo different light settings.
There is no timeframe for this release and WhatsApp is being pretty hush about the whole thing. Several apps have adapted to changing their screens and readability based on the time and how you smart device decides when it is time for light mode or dark mode.
I hope that this change goes through and the versatility of the app changes. WhatsApp was the first messenger program that I interacted with where it didn’t matter what device you used. At the start of the ‘iOS vs Android’ Smart war, messaging was divided unless you wanted to use straight 140 character SMS (short message service). WhatsApp brought these two worlds together. A place where both Apple and Android could communicate using data. Integrating file sharing, group chats and video calling only helped the platform. WhatsApp remains a staple on mine and many other iOS users devices, as it continues to allow us to bridge the communication gap with our friends in the Android world.
