It doesn’t seem like long ago that the Nissan Leaf was one of only a couple of full EV cars on the road. The last few years have seen a surge of new products boasting great speed and enough range to cure your anxiety. The Nissan Ariya is Nissan’s next venture. It’s an EV SUV and is packed with goodies.
With thing LED lights around for the headlights and around the badge, the Ariya looks like something from the future. It was originally debuted as a concept last year in Tokyo, it didn’t take long for Nissan to make this a reality. The mid-size SUV will come stocked with internal technology and will start at around MSRP $40,000 USD before any incentives.
The Ariya will feature the all-new e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system. This will deliver full power to all full wheels instantly. This new system will suit not only enthusiastic cornering but also will handle our Canadian climates without concern.
Nissan Ariya will also have the available Assisted Drive system they are calling PROPILOT 2.0. This system will offer a hands-off driving and hands-on guidance lane changing. These two technologies will help relieve some of the stresses getting from point A to point B.
Range has been a big topic in the EV world and especially as the vehicles are getting larger and running power to all 4 wheels. The Ariya will claim up to 480 km of range. There are two batteries to choose from as well as two available drive trains. Fast charging gives you the ability to get up to 375 km in just 30 minutes.
Large dual displays with haptic feedback will head the connectivity and infotainment. Intelligent route planning will help you chose a route with the appropriate charging stations to make sure you get to your destination in the appropriate time with the correct number of charging stops.
Nissan is taking its EV game to the next level. Offering a mid-size SUV with all-wheel drive capabilities will fit perfectly into the market. I like the ability to chose between drive trains as well as the battery options. Giving the consumer this flexibility allows them to tailor their EV driving experience to their liking.
