Konami is a name we all know and love from the gaming world. I have fond memories of playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the arcade. Titles such as Contra, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania are all staples in the gaming community. It looks like now, however, they are making a gaming PC. This PC is set to launch in September.
The Arespear Gaming PC is currently open for preorder. The cost to get one of these units is 184,000 yen. Don’t get too worried as that equates to about $2,300 CAD. Arespear will start to ship units out in September of this year.
For this kind of money, you get an Intel i5-9400F CPU as well as an Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card. 8GB of Ram and 512GB of storage will also come on the main unit. If you are feeling robust you can upgrade for an extra $1,700 CAD. Your extra money will get the Intel i7-9700 with the Nvidia RTX 2070 Super. To support this you will also get 16GM or Ram and a 1TB drive. After this, the only upgrade you can make is cosmetic. The cost is $200 and you get a clear panel and some fancy RGB lighting.
When it comes to the appearance of Arespear, one could say it is a statement maker. To me, it almost appears like a space-aged wireless subwoofer for a theatre room. It could also resemble a contraption you would carry and infinity stone around in as long as you added a handle.
Konami has been making a conscious effort to diversify its business over the past few years. Shifting away from strict games themselves helps enrich the revenue streams coming into the company. I admire their bold attempt at a gaming PC. Although it won’t be for everyone I have no doubt it will find a home and a following.
