In a not so surprising move, Apple announced new radio stations and that they would be rebranding ‘Beats 1’ to Apple Music 1. This rebrand was inevitable as the name Beats 1 can’t really be found anywhere else in the ecosystem. As of today Apple Music Hits, Apple Country Hits, and Apple Music 1 are a reality.
Beats 1 started back in 2015 and has developed quite the following. According to Apple, they claim it to be “one of the most-listened-to radio stations in the world, consistently delivering the best in-depth artist interviews, more global exclusives and premieres than anywhere else, and unique programming that produces culture-moving, news-making moments year after year.” It is true that their relationship with artists and the community was incredible. A formula they plan on continuing with all 3 of these stations. Apple Music 1 will have studios in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and London. The station will offer special shows from a lineup of huge artists. The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish are just a few of the many listed in the announcement.
Apple Music Hits is the culmination of music from the ‘80s, ’90s, and 2000s. Daily on-air hosts will take you through the day. Names like George Stroumboulopoulos and Ari Melber will be among them. Exclusive shows will also be in the programming. Backstreet Boys, Huey Lewis, and Alanis Morissette are just a few of the names expected to be there. Admittedly as soon as I heard the news I had it all day. I was not disappointed in the least. The mix of music was amazing. Even better were the stories told by the host of how they were introduced to the music. This channel will be a staple going forward at my house.
Apple Music Country is the third station to launch today. The goal is to bring an enhanced experience to the fan. Apple believes country music to be evolving quickly and globally. Apple Music Country wants to bring it to the world first. The exclusive show lineup is massive. Names like Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Combs are just the tip of the iceberg.
These 3 stations are available wherever you enjoy your Apple Music. When Apple Music launched it changed the industry. Offering that sort of lineup really hadn’t been done well in any capacity. Launching of Beats 1 was the evolution of it. Seeing them get into the radio space in this capacity is nothing short of fantastic. Let me know in the comments if you have listened to any of them and what you think?
