Handsfree Bluetooth headset by Yada ā€“ 4 Stars

Thanks to the recent BC ban on cell phone usage while driving, the roads are a safer place. In theory šŸ˜‰ The BC law came into effect on Jan 1st, but so far only warnings are being issued. On February 1st, this will change. So those of you who didn’t get a hands-free headset for Christmas, you’ll need update your gadget collection. I recently had the pleasure of trying out two headsets made by a company called Yada. I talk about the YD-V1 headset here, and the handsfree rear view mirror here.

Set-up: On average takes between 2 and 4 seconds to pair

Sound quality – incoming voice: Very good, quite clear / your outgoing voice: equally clear…in the top 3 of headsets I’ve tried.

Look: It’s about 2 inches long which in the bluetooth world is about average. I liked it’s slick appearance.

Feel: I like that it doesn’t have the “over-the-ear” piece. It rests snugly into your outer ear canal with a soft, bud tip.

Location: You cna pick one up from any Canadian Tire location…pretty darn convenient šŸ˜‰

Price: $80-$90 CDN

Downside: You have to charge the ear peice from you car which isn’t always convenient.

Good to Know:

  • Cell Phones are now banned in the following Canadian provinces: British Columbia (2010), Quebec, Ontario (2009), Newfoundland (2002!) and Labrador.
  • Cell phones are banned in 60 countries around the world.
  • Fines in Canada for using a cell phone without a headset or hands free device in BC will be over $100. In Ontario the fine is already $100.

I found this site while doing some online research and Im glad that I did. I liked your article and hope to be a regular visitor to your website. The article made some good points about technology and how it can be used in todays society. We all have to watch out for how technology changes and make sure that we dont get taken advantage of by people trying to exploit this new technology. Keep up the good work and I look forward to returning.
