Sharp’s 4K Film Competition

Sharp Electronics, together with picture quality experts at THX and RED, invite filmmakers to create short 4K films that capture The ART of an AMAZING high resolution entertainment experience in The 2nd Annual Art of Amazing 4K Film Completion.

As a leading producer of premium televisions that advance the high resolution viewing experience we are supporting filmmakers who are expanding the limits of high resolution, by inviting them to submit short 4K films that capture full potential of a high resolution entertainment experience. Vibrant colors, hidden details, captivating compositions that showcase beauty and emotion in unique perspectives. Submissions can be abstract, narrative, technical, or genre bending. Entries need to take advantage of the full canvas of pixels that Ultra HD resolution offers. The submission period runs from July 21st – September 7th and films will be judged on creativity, technical quality, and the ability to capture detailed, vivid scenes showcasing all of the benefits that high resolution offers.

Returning as partners for the 2nd Annual Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition are THX, who certify best-in-class products capable of delivering the picture quality of professional production studios; and RED, known for their professional ultra-high resolution digital cameras – including their new 6K RED DRAGON sensor and respected filmmaker REDucation programs. And for the first time this year all films submitted will be considered for screening at the internationally renowned Mill Valley Film Festival presented by the California Film Institute. The Sharp Art of Amazing 4K Film Showcase will take place on October 9th at the Mill Valley Film Festival, a gathering place for the film industry, where five of the last six films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture were screened.

Bigger and Better!

Now in its second year the Sharp Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition includes more finalists, more judges, more winners, and more prizes. Joining Sharp, THX and RED on the panel of judges in 2014 will be Lucasfilm, The California Film Institute, and Movi.
